Jim is the owner of Diamond Jim's Saloon in Detroit, and a co-founder of the Leather Institute for Education (LIFE Detroit) an educational endevor to help teach the newbies in the leather community.

He is a 2x leather contest winner representing Mr. Leather Michigan (1984) and Mr. Leather Detroit (1985). He has worked over the last 14 years with International Mr. Leather contest in Chicago.

Also, he is a competitor in the rodeo having won 14 trophy buckles in Bareback Bronc Riding, Steer Wrestling, and Bull Riding. Jim is also a founder of the Michigan International Gay Rodeo Association, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that contributes to charity.

Jim has been a community activist and supporter for the last 15 years.

He is a former Board of Director for Affirmations, Michigan's Gay and Lesbian Community Center.
